More about Image and Ember
Can you imagine the joy that filled my heart when I was following and photographing the wild horses on the Pryor Mountains on a summer day in 2008 – when I saw this little white fluff-ball lying on the ground within Cloud’s band. Going a little closer, I could start to make out the features of a little foal. Oh, how adorable! Later I learned his name was Cloud’s Image. He is the son of Cloud’s daughter Cloud Dancer. Looking around at the rest of Cloud’s band, I could see a little fireball poking around behind Firestorm, another of Cloud’s daughters. Knowing that this was the product of the union of Firestorm and Santa Fe from the previous summer, I instantly fell in love. This little adorable foal’s name was Ember. How fitting. Sadly, she had a deep wound on right shoulder, that was probably from a mountain lion attack. It saddened me at the time, thinking that she would never make it through winter, let alone the coming Autumn months. When I returned the following summer, much to my delight, Ember was alive and doing quite well!
